What Do You Do If You Lose A Contact Lens Behind Your Eye

Contact lenses are the new eye wear and more and more people are now using contact lenses for their eye sight problems. With the comfort and convenience they are providing, contact lenses are becoming increasingly popular. Millions of Americans are now sporting contact lenses instead of eyeglasses.

Contact lenses are no doubt infamous but many people are still not educated about how to wear them, how to care about them, and how to remove them safely. Contact lenses come in different types and each type has different rules of safety attached to it. In this article discussion has been focused on different types of contact lenses with their removal methods. Plus: What to do if you lose a contact lens behind your eye?

Soft contact lenses
Soft contact lenses are the thin, gel-like lenses which immediately get adjusted to the shape of the cornea when placed in the eye. Soft contact lenses, as the name suggests, are soft and easier to wear. They are comfortable and are kind to the eyes. Soft contact lenses are permeable too. The air can permeate through these lenses, making your eye able to breathe. Soft contact lenses are available for long-term or daily use as well as in different colors.

How to remove a soft contact lens
Removal of soft contact lenses is rather easy. Firstly, wash your hands properly with soap and water. Let them dry and then with the tip of the index finger gently touch the lens. The lens will stick to your finger. Pull the finger back and put the lens in its case. Do not forget to fill the case with fresh solution before putting the lens in it. Repeat the process for the other eye.
Rigid, gas-permeable contact lenses

soft contact lensThese contact lenses are made of glass or a specially modified polymer. These are called rigid because they cannot be folded and would break if tried to fold it. These lenses are gas-permeable and allow more oxygen to penetrate than the soft contact lenses. They are durable but not suitable for sporty activities.

How to remove a rigid contact lens
Never try to touch the rigid lens with your finger. You can remove the lens with the plunger your optician has provided you.
What would you do if you lose a lens behind your eye?
You do nothing! As it’s impossible that your lens has moved back in your head or went behind your eye. If you are not able to find it or see the lens then probably it has fallen. A thin but strong film called conjunctiva is covering our eye lids from inside and layers on itself to cover the white part of our eye. This thin film prevents everything to move behind your eye including the lens. If you cannot really see the lens on your eye then you can contact your optician who may look for it underneath your eyelid.

Which Contact Lenses are Most Comfortable?
Soft contact lenses are worn by most people who prefer lenses over glasses, but gas permeable lenses can be a more comfortable option for some wearers.

The #1 Contact Lens Mistake We All Make
32 million people in this country wear contact lenses, that’s about 12% of the population. Contacts have been around for years and aside from the occasional ‘getting them in/out’ learning curve they’re pretty easy to use, right?

Contact Lenses – Medical advice

Contact lenses should be used after consulting the doctor. As mentioned earlier, contact lenses are the glass discs which are made according the cornea size of the eye. The important thing to examine while prescribing a contact lens is the diameter and curve angle of the eye cornea.

How to read the prescription of contact lenses?
A typical prescription of contact lens contains three main values. These values include:
Power of the lens
BC or Base curve
Dia or Diameter

BC values differ from brand to brand.

Power of the lens describes the value up to which the lens can correct the error in the sight.
The prescription also includes the some definitions which are:
OS Left Eye
OD Right Eye
OU Both Eyes

cheap contact lens prescriptionThe prescription for patients with Astigmatism correction or refraction error correction includes two more columns named:
Cyl or Cylinder

Difference between eyeglasses prescription and contact lenses prescription
1. The eyeglasses prescription includes only the power while the contact lenses’ prescription includes some other terms as well which describes the size of the lens.
2. The power of contact lenses is different from the eyeglasses power because the lenses are place right above the eye cornea while your glasses are usually place almost 12mm away from your eye.

Contact lenses- An Overview
Contact lenses are small, tiny discs made of glass which have the ability to correct the eye vision problems miraculously. These tiny glass discs are transparent and virtually invisible. These discs are so convenient to put on that even a footballer player can sport them while playing his match. Contact lenses are here for quite some time now and could be used to correct almost any eye vision problem such farsightedness, nearsightedness, and presbyopia.

These specifications give information about the curvature and the diameter of the lens. The doctor would also prescribe you the power of the contact lenses according to the severity of your eye vision problem. Those who have less weak eye vision will be recommended a contact lens of lesser power than those who have great eye vision problem.

The contact lenses are made after receiving this information from the doctor. Custom contact lenses are made at special contact lens labs.
If you are intending for a decorative contact lens, you are asked to specify the design or the color you want to have in your lenses. Spooky, and cat-eye lenses often seen at Halloween costume parties are also custom made. contact lenses solutionWearing contact lenses? You’ve got to learn some rules first.
Contact lenses provide you the most convenient way to improve your eye sight without putting on heavy-framed glasses, but they too demand some care. A little bit of time to cleanse your lenses would do good to both - the lenses and your eyes. Remember lenses are made of very delicate glass or polymer. The inner surface of the lens remains in contact with your cornea for all the time. Our cornea is very sensitive and if anything (even the smallest of a dust particle) stuck on the inner side of the lens it may damage your eye cornea.

complete contact lens solutionSo, it’s extremely important to keep your lens clean. The most recommended way to cleanse your contact lens is to use contact lens solutions. Contact lens solutions are not only used to cleanse the lenses but are also used to keep the lens moisturized. Contact lens, when not wearing, should be kept in their cases after filling them with the solution.  Each time you place the contact lens back into their cases, remove the previous, old solution first and fill the case with fresh solution. Use saline solutions for contact lens. Do not use discolored contact lens solutions because they might have expired. Extended-wear lenses should be regularly cleansed with the solution according to the scheduled provided by your optician. If you are experiencing some irritation, contact your optician immediately.

Contact Lens Solution Allergies
It as commonly used in very low doses in contact lens disinfecting solutions and is an excellent preservative but causes a reasonably high number of allergic reactions.

Multipurpose Contact Lens Solution
A new study indicates that some multi-purpose contact lens solutions can make the eye more susceptible to damage and infection than others by causing cell.

Contact Solutions
And that is the reason you must opt for a better contact care solution company. There are so many contact lens solution providers in market but I have heard more about this ReNu Fresh Lens Comfort Company.

contact lens no prescription neededContact lenses for medical purposes
Contact lenses are used to correct the vision problems due to short sightedness or the ‘refractive errors’ of eyes.
Shortsightedness
Shortsightedness is a medical condition in which the patient suffers with poor vision. The patient is not able to see clearly and images appear blur to him. Shortsightedness can occur due to the refractive errors of eyes or due to other medical faults in the eye (such as cataracts). The refractive errors of the eye results in nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. Nearsightedness (also called myopia) is a condition in which the far off objects and images do not appear clear while the objects placed near could be seen clearly, while patients with Farsightedness (also called Hyperopia) face problems in seeing closely placed objects clearly. Farsightedness and Nearsightedness both can occur simultaneously too. Astigmatism is another kind of refractive error which occurs in aged persons. The patient loses the ability to focus on near or close objects.
Shortsightedness can also be caused due to cataracts.
These vision problems can be corrected by using contact lenses. Different ype of contact lenses are recommended for each of these medical problems.

contact lens no prescription requiredWhen a prescription is necessary
If you are using contact lenses for medical purposes, consultation with a doctor is essential. The doctor would suggest you a lens most appropriate for your eye problem. The doctor would also examine your eye cornea to get information about the size and diameter of the lens. It is essential for you to get your eyes examined every time you buy a lens so that the doctor could tell you the exact status of your medical problem. The doctor may suggest you a new prescription with lenses of a different power.
However, if you are using a contact lens only for decorative purposes or just want to sport colored lenses you need no new prescription if you have one already. The size of cornea and angles do not change with age and you need no prescription for colored contact lenses if you already have this information.

Halloween Contact Lenses
Halloween contact lenses may be fashionable but wearers can get serious eye infections and even go blind if correct cleaning and disinfection practices are not followed.

Prologue
Contact lenses are small glass discs which are used to correct eye sight problems. Eye sight problems usually include vision problems in which the patient is not able to view things properly. the blurred view is often caused by the contraction of eye cornea. Other eye sight problems include refractive errors of eyes medically known as persbyopia and astigmatism. Contact lenses are also prescribed to those who had eye surgery due to cataracts. This article entails an overview of contact lenses, its types, and detailed discussion on how to cleanse and wash them.

Why contact lenses?
According to a recent study, millions of American have now switched to contact lenses from eye glasses. One of the major reasons why contact lenses are immensely popular is the convenience they provide. They are light weight, virtually invisible, and extremely comfortable to wear. They come with more convenient ways to correct eye vision problems than the conventional eyeglasses.

With the advent of technology, the manufacturing of contact lenses has improved a lot. Contact lenses are now available in various types. These different types are manufactured by keeping in view the different needs of persons with different lifestyles. The main classification of contact lenses is based upon the time period for which they can be used. It includes the extended-wear and daily-wear contact lenses. Daily-wear contact lenses can be used for a time span of 24 hours while extended-wear can be used for as long as one month.
These contact lenses are further classified as soft contact lenses and rigid gas-permeable contact lenses. this classification is done on the basis of manufacturing material used to make the lens. Soft contact lenses are made of very fine polymer and are gel-like, thin lenses while rigid gas-permeable lenses are made of glass. rigid gas-permeable lenses are hard and allow more oxygen to permeate through the lens.

Contact Lens Removal Gas

What are contact lenses?
Contact lens is a small disc-shaped, curved glass which is made to fit your cornea size and is used for better eyesight. Contact lenses are mostly recommended to those who have short sightedness (near or far), presbyopia, astigmatism, and for other eye diseases due to ‘refractive errors’. However, many people use colored lenses to get a new, changed look.

Contact lenses are place on the eye directly and where they hover over the tears in front of the eye cornea.  A thin film of tears refrain the lens to touch the surface of the cornea.
Contact lenses are here for a long time and enough improvements have been made to make them comfortable and safe for your eyes.  Contact lenses are available in different types and with a large variety of contact lenses available, anyone can find just-the-right lens to suit his lifestyle. Contact lenses can even be used during those long office hours, during some sport, and even while you are asleep, but it is extremely important for you to keep your lenses clean to make them safe for your eyes.

This article is written with special focus on safely removal of gas-permeable contact lens but before that, a brief overview of different types of contact lenses:

gas permeable contact lensSoft contact Lens
Soft contact lenses are the thin lenses which are gel-like and quickly adapts to your eye shape. These lenses are extremely flexible and due to their soft material, they are kind to your eye. Soft contact lenses are gas-permeable lenses and fully allow the oxygen to get through from your lens. Soft contact lenses are available as daily-wear, extended-wear and, in colors too.

Hard contact lens
These contact lenses are classified as hard lenses due to the material used to manufacture them. Glass or polymer is often used to make these lenses. These lenses are more durable and more rigid than soft contact lenses. Hard contact lenses allow oxygen permeability and are not ‘hard’ for the eye.

Gas-permeable lens
Gas-permeable contact lenses are more rigid lenses but allow more oxygen to let your eye breathe. With proper care and regular cleansing you can wear gas-permeable lenses without getting them replaced except when your optician prescribe you not to continue wearing your old lenses. The only disadvantage which comes with the gas-permeable lenses is that they are less comfortable than the soft ones.

night and day contact lensRemoval of gas-permeable lenses
Each time you remove the lens make sure you have washed your hands properly to remove dust or any other dirt.  Readers please take notice – A fragrant soap should be avoided before removing the lens because the fragrance may add to your lens and cause irritation.

The most commonly used method to remove a lens is stare-pull-blink. You put your right hand on your under your left eye, with right hand move the eye skin to side wards and pull the lens, now blink. The lens would fall on your left hand. Switch the hands and do the same process for your right eye.
Some opticians often recommend a plunger to remove the gas-permeable lens to the beginners. Gently touch the plunger to the lens and pull it away from the eye.

Remember it’s impossible that your lens move behind your eye. Also, never try to remove lens with hands as it might cause a scratch on your cornea. Scratches on cornea are fatal and can cause permanent eye-sight problems.

Popular Types of Contact Lenses
Rigid gas permeable contact lenses were introduced in the late 1970’s. While rigid gas permeable lenses (or RGP’s) are more rigid or firm than soft contact lenses, they mustn’t be confused with the old style of ‘hard’ contact lenses.

Gas Permeable Contact Lens
Also known as oxygen permeable contacts, gas permeable contact lenses are a lot easier to take care of then other types of contacts - including soft contact.

Quality Discount Contact Lenses Online
Extended wear contact lenses are used for overnight or continuous wear ranging from one to six nights or up to 30 days. There are also a few rigid gas permeable lenses that are designed and approved for overnight wear.
